We arrived in Krakow to brilliant sunshine and this remained with us throughout our stay. Steve, our tour manager, accompanied us from Gatwick and was with us all the week to make sure that everything went smoothly, and we met Sylwia, our Polish guide when we arrived in Krakow. She was a charming young woman exuding friendliness and warmth and was a fount of knowledge about Krakow and its history. Our hotel was in an old palace and within walking distance of the city centre. Amongst tours made were the castle with its many beautiful rooms, the cathedral, St Mary's Church, the Czartoryski museum, the Jagiellonian University museum and Kazimierz, the Jewish quarter with its synagogues and museum.
Outside Krakow we had tours to the salt mines and Auschwitz concentration camp and also to Pope John Paul II's birthplace.
Altogether a very pleasant and interesting stay in a beautiful old city.
