Folkestone DFAS was founded in 1978 and met at The Metropole, first in the gallery and then in the Music Room. Since January 2008 lectures have been held at The Tower Theatre (the home of FHODS), North Road, Shorncliffe, Folkestone CT20 3HL.

Meetings are on the 4th Thursday of the month and start at 2.30 pm. We hold lecture meetings throughout the year apart from July & August.  To see our 2010 lecture programme, click here.

There is also a full programme of visits planned, often linking directly with the subject of earlier lectures. For example, we enjoyed a marvelous day out at Farley Farm House and Charleston, East Sussex, in April 2010.  This followed our lecture by Antony Penrose in January who spoke movingly and eloquently about his parents Lee Miller and Roland Penrose and growing up at Farley Farm.  There are similar links in the rest of our 2010 visits programme.

We have over 200 members and no waiting list. We strive to be a welcoming and friendly society, and place a high emphasis on social contact and enjoyment in our meetings and other activities, as well as providing high quality, stimulating lectures and visits.

Our web pages, part of the Kent Area website, received a media award at the 2008 National NADFAS AGM.  To read more about this, click here.
