Our plans are not only complete, but we are also fully booked, for a four day visit in May 2010. If you have missed the deadlines, there is a waiting list so put your name down!
Pretty villages of Cotswold stone and thatched cottages nestling in unspoilt countryside, some wonderful houses and gardens all await us. Our exploration will include:
16th century Canon's Ashby, with rare Jacobean plasterwork, wall paintings and fine 18th century furniture. Rockingham Castle, a former royal residence, still privately owned. Rushton Triangular Lodge, an intriguing Elizabethan folly. Boughton House, ‘the English Versailles’, home to the Dukes of Buccleuch for 500 years, full of stunning tapestries, paintings and furniture. Cottesbrook Hall and Gardens, the quintessential Queen Anne house with the largest collection of equestrian art in Europe. Deene Park, owned by the flamboyant Brudenell family including the 7th Earl of Cardigan who led the Charge of the Light Brigade. The only Rennie Mackintosh house in England, 78 Derngate, Northampton and finally, en route for Kent, Claydon House, famed for its rococo interiors and chinoiserie decoration.
