Thursday 07 October 2010 10.30am to 3.30pm
Folkestone DFAS is pleased to announce that Andy McConnell, a NADFAS lecturer and Antiques Roadshow expert, has agreed to give us this Study Day. Click here for biography and information about Andy's work. His knowledge of glassware is second to none and he has an entertaining and engaging way of imparting that knowledge.
The Study Day will be held in the foyer of The Tower Theatre and will take the form of three one-hour sessions with breaks for refreshments and lunch.
The three sessions will cover:
- How glass was first made in thge Middle East c.4000BC, how it spread to Venice and then across Europe to Britain.
- Georgian and Victorian (1700-1900) European glass, but more specifically British glass.
- 20th Century glass. This session will also include Andy's appraisals (though no valuations) of any piece of glass you may like to bring along.
Please bring your own packed lunches and snacks. Tea and coffee will be available at the bar.
Fee for the day will be £20 per person.
